But moving on... In the past week we have been madly getting the "New" Survival ready. You may have noticed the increase in staff presence. Although it may have seemed that we were quiet in chat, we have been really busy testing and tuning. But your perseverance has paid off and our intention is to re-open Survival sometime.. in the next few days!!
But what were we testing? What’s new? What have we lost?
» Minecraft 1.13 Overview
The release of Minecraft 1.13 in Jul18 (also known as the Aquatic Update), introduced mainly ocean content with coral, kelp, shipwrecks, and underwater ruins, along with new mobs like phantoms, dolphins, tropical fish and cute little turtles. So Survival will have all that, and more! You can find more about the update at https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/1.13
Not just a world reset...
With the world reset, we decided that it was time to really change things up!
We've added a whole bunch of new features and challenges extend your Survival adventures even further!
You can now choose from a range of jobs and get paid for doing what you normally do. At this stage we have 11 jobs available. But you can only have a maximum of 3 jobs at any one time. Yes you can swap jobs at any time, but you will lose levels for the job you quit. Jobs that are available are: Woodcutter, Miner, Builder, Digger, Farmer, Explorer, Crafter, Fisherman, Weaponsmith, Brewer, and Enchanter.
With each job, you earn money and experience. Level up, and you'll earn more money. For example: If you join the Woodcutter job, and break 1x Oak Log, you will earn $1. However if you have 3 jobs and break 1x Oak Log, you will earn a little less. But when you rank up to Level 2 Woodcutter, you will earn a bit more. This means you can get creative and choose the Jobs that suit your game play style!
» Mob Hunting
Mob Hunting adds an extra level of fun to hunting mobs. Now you will get paid money just for killing mobs, and the chance to win one of the 50+ special Mob Heads. Collect them all to add to your decorative wall of fame. On top of this you get bonus multipliers for skilled and creative kills. For example: Blowing up other mobs with a creeper explosion, or punching mobs off a cliff will earn you more!
Also as you rank up, so do your rewards.
You may have seen Quests in Hub in the past. Well now we have brought that into Survival 1.13. Throughout Survival Spawn you will notice various NPCs around the place. Each one has a variety of solo Quests that you can participate in. You can have a maximum of 3 Quests active at any time. Once a Quest is accepted, you can't quit or cancel that Quest, so if you already have 3 active quests, you'll have to complete one to start another. Completing quests might earn you Treasure Keys, XP, money and other items.
» Random Teleport
This is something that has been asked about for a long time, so now we have made it happen. We have removed all the "Wild" portals, and now have one random teleport station. The "random" teleport will ensure that wherever it sends you, you will not be inside a claim and you will be able to place/break blocks! However, be aware that once you go somewhere you will need to /sethome to get back to that spot. Head to /wild to see the new station.
With Mob Hunting and Jobs now an integral part of Survival, we’ve added a Leaderboard wall. This is located right next to the Random Teleport station. See where you are at, and fight for the top position!
» Where do you start?
So where do you start off? We did mention that this will be a total clean start for everyone.
- Claim Blocks. You start off with an initial allowance of 1000 claim blocks, and earn more the longer you are in Survival. (see this page for more detail) Note: You will keep any Donated claim blocks you had before.
- Money. You start off with an initial allowance of $1000. But as mentioned above, there are many new ways to earn money with Jobs, killing Mobs, or create a /market to sell to other players.
- Admin Shop. /shop will be closed for the time being. However Golden Shovels will be available to purchase for initial claiming
- The new commands for Mob Hunting and Jobs can be accessed in-game with /help mh and /help jobs. There are hologram signs next to the Leaderboard wall to remind you of these. The website Wiki will be updated soon.
So, as you venture off from Survival spawn, whether you use the random teleport signs or just start walking off into the distance, dont forget to /sethome <name> and start trying out the new features we've added.
With that, thank you to all our players and thank you for your perseverance. We know some may be unhappy with the reset, and it is something we did think about for a long time on what to do. But with the new blocks, animals and the new features we've added, I'm sure you will enjoy the new Survival.
To all our amazing staff: Thank you for the testing, suggestions/improvements, and continual support you provide to AddstarMC! <3 The hours put in whilst still managing family commitments and work, you are all truly amazing, and very much appreciated!
