I'm sure you've all heard about the upcoming Minecraft 1.7 release and some of the new awesome features it will bring! We've had many people ask what we will be doing and now we are ready to announce our plans.
Firstly, we'd like to share some of the new features of the upcoming release:
New biomes
Mesa, Mega Taiga, Cold Beach, Ice Plains Spikes, Stone Beach, Savannah, Black Forest, Birch Forest, Sunflower Plains, Flower Forest, Deep Ocean, Extreme Hills+, Taiga... and many enhancements to existing biomes!
Worlds are also now generated with far less ocean and creates a more natural environment.
It will now be very unlikely to find a desert next to a snow biome

New Items
- New flowers: multiple colours and types
- New varieties of ground cover
- Receive mystery items from fishing!
- Different sized nether portals
- Red sand
- Stained glass & glass panes

What are our plans?
Due to the massive number of new biomes and natural additions, we have decided that we really don't want to miss out on all these things, so the best approach would be to generate a new world!
DON'T PANIC!!!! The current survival world won't be reset!
We will create a NEW survival world for 1.7 and keep the old one for a migration period.
Here is how it's going to work:
1. The current survival world will be renamed to "oldsurvival".
2. We will create a brand new 1.7 "survival" world.
3. You will still continue to keep your homes, claims and items in the "oldsurvival" world.
4. You can manually migrate your homes, claims and all your items to the new world.
5. The "oldsurvival" will be removed after the migration period (to be determined at a later date).
NOTE: Instead of transferring everything, you may wish to sell just your bulk items and mine/buy them again.
We understand people have worked very hard in our current survival world and will not like to see their work go. We have spent countless weeks preparing, trying to figure out another way to do this and sadly this is by far the only option. Hopefully the journey and excitement of creating new homes in the much improved 1.7 world will make up for that.
