Howdy all. So as mentioned in the News Post, SkyGrid is coming back. Its been 5 months of listening to Khaos. Feels like 100years.. But we're finally here.
So I did mention in the News Post, some of the new things that are coming in SkyGrid, so here is a better explanation of what's installed.
What is Skygrid
Well its a whole world of parkouring between blocks. 3 block gap between each block for as far as the eye can see. Jump from block to block and gather resources to build a safe platform, then expand from there. As you travel around you'll see many chests. Sometimes with valuable resources. But watch your step. The void awaits you.
How do I get started
The lobby (/spawn) has many useful areas to look at. From the start, follow the yellow stairs to get an overview. Walk around the path to get an in-game view of the features of SkyGrid. Once you've been overwhelmed with commands, do /wild.
Wild TP
At /wild you'll see a board where you can choose which direction you want to start your adventure. (North, South, East, and West) But be careful and dont go running soon as you spawn into the "Grid". Also be patient with the Wild TP as it tries to find a safe spot for you to start.
Starter Kit
Once you've got yourself sorted, do /kit starter. This will give you a helping hand to mine some blocks to at least make a safe platform.
Claiming
So you've parkoured around a bit, died a few times, and now found a nice spot to call home. Firstly /sethome <homename>. You'll need this to get back when required. (/home <homename>). So now its time to mark your territory. If you were lucky enough to find gold or a gold shovel, then you're already ahead. If not, head to /shop and buy a shiny new one. To make a claim, right click the alternate corners of an area with your gold shovel. You can also use the /expandclaim <number of blocks> whilst facing the direction you want to expand, to make it easier to expand your claim. Placing your 1st chest will also setup a small claim area. More claim blocks are earnt along the way, or head to our Donation Store to get additional claim blocks.
So once you're reasonably settled, its time to look at other things that SkyGrid can help you expand.
Jobs
This is no different to Jobs in survival. A range of different jobs are available (max of 3 at one time) Use /jobs browse to see what is available. From there you can left click to view more information of a job, or right click to join that job. You can also use /jobs join <jobname> or /jobs leave <jobname> once you are familiar with them all. Careful with changing jobs too often tho. There is a penalty of XP for that job if you leave. Also in the orange zone in spawn you can see the top workers for each job. Get to the top!!
Cobble Generator
For the first time, we've introduced a custom cobble generator. There is currently 2 Tiers. Default and VIP. Within each, is a variety of Levels that you can progress to. For the Default Tier it will cost money and possibly items to unlock the next level. Once unlocked a level, you can freely change your cobblegen to produce what you want.
The VIP Tier gives you a whole range of other blocks that the cobblegen will provide. See our Donation Store to see what the VIP Tier can provide. (Once the VIP Tier has been purchased, you can freely change to any of the VIP Levels.)
To use the Cobble Gen just do /cobblegen.
SlimeFun
Slimefun is another optional extra. You dont need to use it, but wow there are some handy machines and gadgets you can obtain. Do /sfdemo to go to the Purple zone in spawn to get an idea of the basic machines. But be warned. SlimeFun is a tough grind, but has enormous rewards. Additionally, in our Donation Store is a SlimeFun Essentials pack. This will automatically unlock the Research on several Basic Machines in SkyGrid, along with a quite a few SlimeFun Resources to get you well under way.
Achievements
Similar to survival, SkyGrid has Achievements. /aach list. Most cases I've found that it happens as you spend time in the world. But you can look through the list and strive to reach the end.... Good luck.
Bonus
Nothing new here. same as survival. Go to /bonus to get your daily food allowance, weekly XP boost, and a progressive money bonus. Return each day for a week and get a big money bonus..
Market
Same as other Markets, SkyGrid has one as well. Yes it will cost you to buy a plot. But set your price right and it wont take long to recoop your plot purchase. Do /market to make your way there, or walk through the portal where /shop and /bonus are.
Rewards
Nothing new here. Collect your keys from Achievements, Donation Store, or voting for our server (/vote). Do /rewards ad you will be taken to the Rewards area.
Other Donations
In the Donation Store there is a whole section just on SkyGrid. From Claim Blocks, XP, Weapons and Armour, and the new SlimeFun Essentials and CobbleGen VIP upgrade.
But some other handy perks are found in the Extras section. Some highly recommended ones are Home Sweet Home (as the basic limit of 5 is inclusive of Survival homes) and Move My World. (If you parkour like me, 1 jump across = 3 blocks down, then /top is a lifesaver. Plus this is useful in Survival and Skyblock)
The Nether and The End
Yes! There is a Nether and End. Care to defeat the dragon whilst parkouring your way around. Its a long way down.. Both worlds are Grid like. But to get to the end, you need to visit "The Tower"...
In similar fashion, at this stage the Nether and the End wil be reset monthly. So dont get too comfortable there.
Chairs
Sitting on slabs and stairs is the cool thing to do, so you can admire your SkyGrid masterpiece. Just be careful that the void is not underneath the slab. Or you'll be sitting in the void to your demise. If sitting on chairs annoys you, you can /rfc toggle to turn it off or on accordingly.
Well that just about covers the basics of getting a good start to SkyGrid. Yes, it's hard to start off with, but long term the self satisfaction is enormous.
Wish you all the best in SkyGrid!!
