With the advent of Realms and the option of trials, we have seen more and more players creating the realms then finding out that playing on a Realm by yourself is pretty boring. So they have been coming to their favourite servers and inviting friends to thier realms. The staff up to this point have been given quite a bit of leeway when dealing with this form of player advertising. In some cases they have chosen to ignore it and in others they have asked players to stop, in extreme cases players have received a warning.
It is our opinion that realms while certainly a new cool feature of Microsofts Minecraft represents a possible area that isnt entirely safe for the children that often play on AddstarMC. Realms are pretty much unmonitored and noone can access chat logs for that realm and police what is said there. Additionally griefing can not be fixed and players are at the whim of the owner of a given realm. We feel that a realm is about as concerning as a private IRC chat room with regard to children and the methods they can access the internet and its problems.
Given these facts we are putting in place a general rule that means we wont accept players pilfering or asking players to join thier realm on AddstarMC. We feel that if a particular player is a close enough friend for the above NOT to concern you then other means of communication can be set up to allow an invitation to a Realm to be sent. (ie Skype Email etc)
You can expect that ingame advertising of realms including in private chat will be dealt with according to our rules against advertising.
